Group Training Approach

Everyone is welcome and no pace is too slow!  Meet up and run or walk together -- it's that simple. We want you to have fun and feel supported as you train with BTE. We offer several running/walking group training sessions throughout the week for you to choose from. You are encouraged to attend as many sessions as you feel like. Many of our BTE team leaders are experienced with run/walk training routines. This involves incorporating walk breaks into regular running and allows you to reach distance goals while helping to prevent injury and have fun. Biking groups will meet on the weekends on an informal basis.

All season 16 participants are required to fill out and sign the registration/waiver before training with BTE. This includes individuals who registered online. You can mail it back to the address on the form or hand it to a team leader.

The park is located on the South side of Tanque Verde Road, just east of Sabino Canyon Road. Meet next to the bathrooms near the northeast corner of the outdoor walking path.

Meet in front (north) of the UA Library on the UA Mall. Parking is free after 5 pm on the surface lots. The "lot specific" lot on Championship Drive east of the stadium usuall has open spots.

Daily ($5) or yearly ($20) parking pass required. National Parks Passes (including Senior Pass) accepted with no additional fee.

Meet at the front door of the Randolph Center at Reid Park located at 200 S Alvernon, south of Broadway.

Season 16 Events

Our training plan is designed around some fantastic local races. Participation in these events is not required to join BTE, but is highly encouraged:

Come run or walk Jim Click's Run 'N' Roll 8K at 7:00 A.M. or 3K at 7:10 A.M. on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the University of Arizona campus. All race proceeds go to the University's Adaptive Athletics program which provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate in team sports. A post race expo will be held featuring food, athletic wear, health checks, and great music with giveaways at the awards ceremony.

6th Annual Pink Ribbon 7K Run/Walk
Come run or walk the 6th Annual Pink Ribbon 7K at the University of Arizona Tech Park at Vail Academy and High School on October 17, 2015. The race honors all the women in our community that have fought, are fighting or have lost their battle with breast cancer. Race proceeds benefit the University of Arizona Cancer Center and Better Than Ever. 

Come run or walk the 11th Everyone Runs TMC, Fleet Feet Veterans Day Half Marathon, 5K and TMC for Children Fun Run on Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Sabino High School. Choose from the half marathon at 7:15A.M. or 5K at 8:20 A.M. This event features live music, finisher tech shirts and medals, free Mexican breakfast, and photos.

Grab your bike and ride the El Tour de Tucson on Saturday, November 21, 2015 beginning at Armory Park on South 6th Avenue and 13th Street. All race proceeds benefit the Easter Seals, a nonprofit organization that helps individuals with disabilities and special needs, and their families, live better lives. Choose from a variety of race distances, including 104, 75, 55 or 40 miles. Finishers and their families and friends can enjoy the post race El Tour Downtown Fiesta with music, food, beverages, and more. 

Come run or walk the annual Lute Olson Cancer Center run, formerly known as the CATwalk in February 2016. Date and other race details to be determined. The run/walk benefits cancer research, education and prevention at the University of Arizona Cancer Center. In previous years, the annual run/walk event has donated more than $575,000 to the Bobbi Olson Fund for women's cancer research, education and prevention.

In conjunction with the CEO Cancer Gold Standard™, Goodmans Interior Structures hosts a workplace BTE Team. For the Fall 2014 Session, they will open up their training to the greater Phoenix community. Our Phoenix team is training for a 10K, half marathon and/or a 15K.

For the ninth consecutive year, BTE has a group in Sedona, AZ. The Sedona team began in 2007 to honor the memory of beloved Sedona resident, Nancy Schubert. Nancy passed away from ovarian cancer after a valiant battle. Her friends and family rallied around the cause and have since raised more than $60,000 for cancer research.

Train From Home/Solo Training

If a group atmosphere isn’t for you, but you still want to support the amazing research at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, this is the option for you. Train for one of our scheduled events on your own, or any event of your choosing.

Benefits include:
