Dr. Anwer is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. He received his medical degree from the Rawalpindi Medical at the University of Punjab in 1998. His internships included General Surgery at Rawalpindi General Hospital, Internal Medicine at Jinnah Hospital and General Pathology at Allama Iqbal Medical College. His Residency was completed at Holy Family Hospital in Rawalpindi and University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in Pittsburgh.
Dr. Anwer completed Hematology Oncology Fellowship in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Arizona in 2012. He was a Visiting Fellow in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation at the Fred Hutchison Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA in 2011/2012. He is board certified in Internal Medicine.
Dr. Anwer currently serves as both the Clinical Director of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program and the Director of the Stem Cell Harvest Program in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC). The major focus of his clinical research is hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in adults with hematologic malignancies treatment for acute leukemias. He serves as a mentor to a number of undergraduate and graduate students as well as many medical students, internal medicine residents and hematology/oncology fellows. His clinical research interests make me well-suited to be a member of the faculty working to achieve the goals of the UACC.
