Associate, Center for Toxicology
Jean-Philippe Galons received his PhD in Biochemistry & Biophysics at the University of Provence in Marseille, France. After a post doctoral training with Prof.Yarata at the University of Tokyo, he moved to a faculty position in the Department of Life Sciences at the University Aix-Marseille I. In 1994 he was recruited to the University of Arizona as a Research Faculty member to develop new methods to characterize and monitor chemotherapeutic response in treated tumors by multi-modality MRI and MRS. Dr Galons is currently the Scientific Director for pre-clinical MRI within the Advanced Research Institute for Biomedical Imaging.
Dr. Galons has extensive experience with designing, conducting, and analyzing data for pre-clinical and clinical MRI projects. He has used multimodality MR to characterize chemotherapeutic response in various mice models of cancer. Dr. Galons is currently a co-investigator on two clinical breast cancer projects in collaboration with Dr.Chow and Dr.Thompson from the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC). He is familiar with the imaging protocols and imaging pulse sequence programing tools available for both our pre-clinical Bruker 7T and clinical 3T Siemens research scanners. He has been an active member of the UACC Cancer Imaging Program.
