Research Focus:

We have recently discovered that human hairless protein (HR) interacts with the p53 signaling pathway. HR is mutated in many cancers including brain and the level of HR expression is relevant to survival of patients with glioblastoma. These findings were quite unexpected and have led to the hypothesis that HR may serve as a new type of tumor suppressor with clinical significance in glioblastoma. We propose to determine the biological significance of HR expression and its roles in brain cancer cells.
