Dr. Leila Ali-Akbarian (Dr. Ali) is currently the medical director of the Supportive Care Clinic at the University of Arizona Cancer Center (UACC). This clinic serves the needs of UACC patients in terms of Cancer Survivorship Care, Palliative Care, and Integrative Oncology consultation. She is a board certified family medicine physician and is an assistant professor in the department of Family and Community Medicine.
In addition to her role at the University of Arizona Cancer Center, Dr. Ali serves as the behavioral health specialist for the Family Medicine residency program at Alvernon, as well as the interim director for the residential fellowship in integrative medicine at the Alvernon residency program. She is committed to academic medicine and routinely hosts medical students, medical residents, and other learners in her clinic.She also enjoys collaboration on various research projects.
Her passions in medicine include a focus on lifestyle interventions and natural therapies that can improve resilience, decrease inflammation and enhance immunity. Dr. Ali is devoted to helping her patients thrive before, during and after cancer treatment, managing physical and emotional symptoms during active treatment, facilitating discussions about goals of care and health priorities at any point during the cancer continuum, and helping to decrease risk of recurrence after treatment.
