Panos Savvides, MD, PhD, MPH, is Section Leader for the Head and Neck Program and Thoracic Program at The University of Arizona Cancer Center at Dignity Health St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center and Dignity Health Cancer Center at Goodyear. Dr. Savvides is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in Oncology.
Dr. Savvides’ expertise includes diagnosis and treatment of head and neck, thyroid and thoracic cancers. He is a member of the Eastern Cooperative Group Head and Neck Committee, the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. Dr. Savvides has been the Principal Investigator on numerous clinical trials, including first in humans, phase 0, I, II and III, as well as observational trials, and has a special interest in Developmental Therapeutics.
Dr. Savvides received his medical and doctoral degrees from the University of Athens Medical School in Greece. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Harvard Medical School, Mt. Auburn Hospital and his fellowships in both hematology oncology and clinical care research at the Tufts Medical School, New England Medical Center. Dr. Savvides also holds a master’s in public health from Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, Mass. He was the Head and Neck Division co-leader, the Director of Clinical Trials for Head and Neck Oncology at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center, an Associate Professor of Medicine at the OSU Medical School and a Thoracic Oncology member at the Seidman CASE Comprehensive Cancer Center.
