Their efforts were recognized by SWOG with a special award for his contribution to clinical trial S0931.
Dr. Singh was also selected for the AACR/ASCO Clinical Trial Workshop in 2013 and has gained necessary experience and training in preparing the protocol for clinical trials. His proposal for clinical trial was ranked 1st among proposal submitted in SWOG RFA and was presented to NCI GU steering committee and is pending approval. Currently, his interest is to develop new biomarkers for prostate cancer and also identify new potential targets for therapeutic intervention, which fits the aims of the current proposal.
At the UACC, there are strong clinical, translational and basic science researchers who are working in close collaboration on bringing new diagnostic models and drug targets to the clinic. The UACC has a long history of successful approval of new drugs which were developed here and were approved for clinical use.
Dr. Singh has extensive experience in his last two years at the UACC in accruing patients on clinical trials, and they routinely see patients with prostate cancer at various stages of their disease – from localized to advanced. They are currently involved in clinical trials which require new biopsies of patient’s tumors, and they have successfully enrolled patients on these trials. They have an established urology and interventional radiology department working very closely with medical oncology performing many of our biopsies on clinical trials. Dr. Singh feels that the current proposal brings together an excellent team of collaborators which will work together and complete this relevant project in a timely fashion.
