Rebecca Klein Viscusi, MD, was appointed Assistant Professor of Breast Surgical Oncology within the Division of Surgical Oncology at The University of Arizona Medical Center in August 2011.
Dr. Viscusi is an Arizona native who received her bachelor of science from the University of Arizona. She received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and then completed her General Surgery Residency program at the University of Arizona. In addition, Dr. Viscusi also completed a one-year fellowship program in Breast Surgical Oncology at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.
Dr. Viscusi’s practice includes treatment of both benign and malignant breast care issues. Her clinical and research area of interest involves care of women who are at high risk for the development of breast cancer, specifically those with a BRCA mutation. She will be an active participant in the High-Risk Cancer Clinic currently held at The University of Arizona Cancer Center. Her ability to perform skin sparing and nipple sparing mastectomies will add an option for women desiring prophylactic mastectomies with more optimal cosmetic outcomes.
