Guidelines for Submission

Guidelines for submission

Investigator-initiated trials (IIT) concepts should be submitted using the provided UACC IIT template and limited to no more than 3-5 pages. Summaries of fully developed IIT protocols, or pharmaceutical company IIT submission templates, may be submitted for review and scoring instead, if they have all the fields requested by the UACC IIT template.

Proposals should include primarily NEW IIT concepts. If the study is ongoing, please provide a compelling reason for requesting funding. This may be a new finding in the course of a trial that could be used to apply for a future grant, or a need for additional data for an R01 application that just missed the funding cutoff.

Submissions should include a description of current and future funding plans.

A budget or draft of a budget should be included with the proposal. An IIT budget template is provided but other templates may be submitted.

CROC will assess IIT concepts for resource allocation, taking into account the resources that were already obtained externally from grants and pharmaceutical companies. The concept will be scored and ranked using a 5-criteria scoring system, with a scale of 5-25, with 25 being the highest mark.  The average score of the four required committee member reviews is calculated, and trials are placed in ranking order. The evaluation questions in ranking a concept or protocol summary are as follows:
