Dr. Karyn Goodman to discuss locally advanced rectal cancer at CCGR

Karyn Goodman, MD, MS, will discuss incorporating the latest data for patients with locally advanced rectal cancer in the upcoming Collaborative Cancer Grand Rounds, noon to 1 p.m., on Feb. 16, at the Kiewit Auditorium, Cancer Center’s Sydney E. Salmon Building at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Goodman is a professor and vice chair of the Clinical Research Department of Radiation Oncology, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, and the associate director of clinical research at The Tisch Cancer Institute.

An internationally recognized expert on gastrointestinal cancers, Dr. Goodman’s research focuses on improving outcomes and reducing toxicity in patients with gastrointestinal malignancies. She has extensive experience as principal investigator on clinical trials and is involved in development of therapeutic protocols combining radiation, chemotherapy, targeted agents and immunotherapy.

Dr. Goodman earned her Doctor of Medicine from Stanford University and Master of Science from Harvard School of Public Health.

Before joining Mount Sinai in September 2019, Dr. Goodman was associate director of clinical research at the University of Colorado Cancer Center, where she had worked since 2015. Previously, Dr. Goodman was the head of Gastrointestinal Radiation Oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center from 2007 to 2015.
